Principal Professional Officer - Water Treatment Specialist at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• BEng or BSc (Eng) degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering.
• Preferred BEng or BSc (Eng) degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering with a Master’s Qualification in water treatment.
• 8 years or more relevant post-graduate experience.
• Preferred 8 years or more relevant experience post registration.
• Professional Registration (PrEng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (or equivalent body recognised by the Washington Accord).
• Computer literate.
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence.

Must be Physically fit.

Key Performance Areas

• Oversee complex infrastructure and asset management projects, focusing on the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, and drawings.
• Initiation and Implementation of Water Treatment Optimisation Investigations.
• Providing Water Treatment Process support and applying whole life cycle asset management for operations and maintenance.
• Manages treatment investigations with internal and external units.
• Manages the communication and relationships between various stakeholders.
• Explore and implement new ways of delivering services that  contribute to the improvement of municipal processes.
• Drawing up of correspondence of a more complex and involved nature to facilitate the functioning of the Branch. Including preparation of capital and operating estimates within a planned project and manages and controls expenditure against the approved budget allocations.
