Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
- The Consultant is responsible for business engagement and demand management for the Business Intelligence Competency Centre (BICC) for all the supporting business units in MTN.
- The role will work with multiple stakeholders within MTN to make sure their BI needs are properly collected, interpreted into appropriate analytics use cases, prioritized and implemented into appropriate analytics models and/or BI tools that match the needs identified. In this role, the Translator will liaise between Businesses and Data Scientists, and responsibility may also encompasses development of functional specifications and MVP/pilot plans for new BI tool development. The Consultant acts as a champion for the BICC’s internal clients and makes sure user feedback is incorporated into the agile design process in the Data Analytics team.

Business engagement
- To collate data requirements from all areas of the business
- Develop functional specifications
- Oversee and support use case ideation from functional units
- Provide guidance on technical specifications, in conjunction with Group Technology
- Works in a scrum team as a champion for the commercial business units at MTN to ensure alignment between technical and business stakeholders
- Collate and communicate user feedback: once use cases have been deployed into the MTN ecosystem, the business partner will be responsible for constantly ensuring that the solution is the best possible match for what the users need.
- Provide user feedback into the BICC team, to be incorporated into the design/development process in an agile way
Demand management
- To prioritise the requests of the business into a shortlist of needs that, based on business impact and success factors
- Prioritise use case needs for the user group forum (and eventually to GOC) for further development/prototyping
- Support the development of business case for new use case development
- Recommend use cases with group-wide impact to GOC for approval
Analytics
- Translate business requirements into analytics use cases
- Collaborate with the data analytics team to ensure the solutions generated are aligned to the needs of the business
- Develop rapid test and deployment approaches to operationalize analytics insights
Collaboration
- To collaborate, the Consultant will work with people from a technical and business skills perspective
- To work with people from across the functional units of the business to ensure alignment from all parties
- To work closely with the data analytics team as the role will manage the use case development process
- To collaborate with Technology for communication of technical specifications

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistic, or related analytical area of study
Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience in a project management/business engagement-related role
• 2+ years’ experience in analytical practices or Business Intelligence
• Working understanding of Big Data platforms, relational databases, data analysis algorithms / techniques / tools (e.g. including but not limited to ensemble algorithms, SVMs, K-means, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.), and data management/quality improvement processes
• Experience with technical demand management preferred
