    Manager - PMO

    Requirements

    • Appropriate professional/technical degree and project management qualification.
    • A minimum of eight (8) years’ post qualification experience in a project management environment and minimum of five (5) years’ senior managerial experience.
    • A thorough understanding or knowledge of legislative framework related to local government context.
    • Provide assurance, governance and oversight function in an organisation.
    • Attention to detail
    • -Direction setting and build vision for future business improvement and decision-making.
    • Strong functional and project management experience with a clear understanding of the need for integration between contracts, supply chain, operations and project management in a matrix organisation.
    • Process development and monitoring and evaluation focusing on outcome base operations.
    • Data analysis, MS Excel proficiency with a high degree of computer literacy
    • Presentation and facilitation skills
    • Engineering Management, Contract Management and Supply Chain Management knowledge will be advantageous.
    • Registration with a relevant professional body advantageous
    • A Code B (08) driver’s licence

    Key Performance Areas

    • Perform, lead and direct the activities associated with high level input into programme and project planning and project portfolio compliance through the review of all capital and operating projects.
    • Lead, collaborate and provide the performing of activities for the provision of mentorship and advice to Departmental project and contract managers.
    • Provide reports, data analysis and feedback to enable decision-making

    • Lead and direct the provision of a cross functional service to the Directorate by creating awareness that advocates the compliance function services.
    • Guide, advise and implement policies, procedures, systems and processes in the development so that operations are efficiently and effectively managed.
    • Manage the overall project management strategy of the Directorate to ensure the integrated and successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic programmes and projects.
    • Lead and direct the performing of activities with the provision of mentorship and advice to Directorate project and contract managers in terms of Contract and Project Management
    • Accountability of all phases and aspects in Contract and Project Management governance processes
    • Screening and performing stage gate management of projects, including to chair the Project Stage Gate Review Committee.
    • Analysing portfolio data to identify trends, areas of risk and areas of improvement, towards corrective action.
    • Facilitating, designing and presenting frameworks and reports to further enable better decision-making.
    • Driving project delivery and achievement of associated targets.
    • Management, monitoring and evaluation of key performance indicators.
    • Providing high-level advisory and a consulting service on policy and strategy matters.
    • Compiling reports, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and be accountable for the governance processes.
