Manager: Privacy Management at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• To promote data privacy and shape and influence the digital transformation in the organisation by providing specialist advice and support to help mitigate privacy risks, enhance data subject trust, encourage compliance and ethical processing of personal information.

• To serve as the Privacy Management engagement person and subject matter expert, providing tactical direction on ‘how best’ to achieve the Privacy strategy and business objectives and improvements.

• To be responsible for the strategic and operational management of privacy management enterprise wide

Experience

Minimum:

• 5 - 7 years’ experience in managing other privacy, security, data or risk regulatory frameworks with a strong security focus e.g. PCI DSS, ISO 27001.

• Management experience in a team-oriented workplace.

• Proven track record of business relationship management, especially at a Senior/Executive level

Ideal:

• 7+ years’ experience in managing other privacy, security, data or risk regulatory frameworks with a strong security focus e.g. PCI DSS, ISO 27001.

• Project management experience, experience supporting technology platforms, metrics and reporting, and cross functional projects with an ability to execute and deliver on strategic initiatives.  

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Bachelor's Degree in Law or Information Management

• A relevant qualification

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• Honours Degree in Law or Information Management

Knowledge

Minimum:

• Data Product Life Cycle.

• Industry leading data governance, data privacy and management practices (including DAMA-DMBOK and ISO principles).

• General understanding of control disciplines (compliance, legal, regulatory, audit, information security or risk).  

• Sound knowledge of POPIA, PAIA, GDPR, cross-border data transfer mechanisms, CPA, NCA, FICA, ECTA, PCI-DSS, ISO27001

• Agile principles and methodology

Ideal:

• Understanding of end-to-end D&A environments, including Data Governance & Management, Data Warehouse, and Business Intelligence. 

• Formulation of Data Governance and Management metrics  

• Information systems and information system architecture 

• Knowledge of Cloud and on-premises data solutions (AWS preferred)

• ISF Framework (Data Security and Access Management) 

• Business process understanding
