    Managing Director

    Overview

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Market position

    • Work with the VP of Publicis Media South Africa to build two-year plan to achieve double digit growth across relevant agencies in JHB and CT.
    • Identify and implement organic growth strategy
    • Lead the agencies brand and reputation in the industry at local levels within South Africa and across the Continent
    • Work closely with the Practice Leads as a lever to drive growth and market leadership
    • Build and strengthen the Media Services offering Client retention and growth
    • Ensure the strategic business plan results in maximum client satisfaction and organic revenue growth
    • Close and effective cooperation with local/ global practices and brands
    • Create and implement immaculate service and leadership charter for clients
    • Focus on local and global client relationships and ensure their product in the Market is BIC and in line with overall objectives for clients
    • Ensure collaboration across the Groupe’s agencies to drive a more integrated and innovative solution for clients
    • Add tangible value to Groupe clients through delivery of BIC work across agencies offerings

    New Business

    • Build a strong prospecting plan for the Agencies – identify targets with a solid engagement action plan
    • Ensure there is strong conversion of new business
    • Provide active input to Publicis Media’s entities and Power of One business development plans and prospects
    • Support of Groupe & Brand pitches for both global & local pitches
    • Forge strong relationships with media audit firms/pitch doctors Operational Excellence
    • Responsible for the operational effectiveness of Media Services inline with Groupe policies and directives
    • Adoption and management of Publicis Media’s operational process, workflow, systems and processes
    • Review progress and take corrective action to ensure performance
    • Ensure quality control and improvement of all company output and delivery of services
    • Support of other Groupe client requirements where specialist input is required
    • Management of capacity of host agency staff so as to service the needs of both their own client group as well as any other clients across the Groupe

    Financial Performance

    • Work with VP of Publicis Media South Africa to build a strong and achievable budget commitment on an annual basis
    • Closely monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets - deliver on budget commitment
    • Management of Media contribution against Commit and Growth Targets
    • Manage margins and operational costs at a client and agency level
    • Provide support to drive revenue growth and productivity, with innovative “break- the-mould” strategies
    • Help drive revenue for the group through key Media Services offering working closely with the PMX practice.

    Product integration and development

    • Deliver strong strategic entrepreneurial offering
    • Assist in growing and leverage the Publicis Media Practices where required
    • Automate systems to drive accuracy & efficiency in line with Publicis Media strategies

    Talent and Culture

    • Introduce & Grow a strong & diverse leadership team reflective of the demographics of South Africa
    • Attract in close cooperation with talent team fresh talent to achieve our vision and ambition in Market
    • Drive an engaging, innovative high performing culture
    • Create connectivity with the brands, inspiration and retention
    • Work closely with Talent team to deliver “best-in-class” talent initiatives in market

    Responsibilities

    CRITICAL SKILLS

    • Previous experience in a leadership position within a communication, digital or media business – prior agency experience is crucial
    • Has led a P&L
    • Proven at leading clients and significant accounts within an agency, building strong relationships and enabling communication channels
    • Track record of winning pitches and significant experience driving organic growth
    • Acknowledged as a thought-leader and an innovator in the market; is often present at industry events and in the press
    • Has previously led large teams
    • Experience navigating matrixed, international organisations

    KPIs/What will this person need to accomplish within 12 months in order to be considered successful in the role.

    • Grow the profile of the market business with our core pillars of Talent, Trust and Transformation proposition – an organisation dedicated to grooming the world’s best talent and being a trusted partner who can guide clients on their own transformation journey
    • Build strong bonds between Media Agencies and Publicis Groupe Agencies to produce more integrated client solutions and increased collaboration across the company
    • Demonstrably grow existing business, to establish a best in class Partnership role on every client
    • To win new business to balance the portfolio of clients, and to grow the business
    • To intelligently and transparently broaden the scope of each client relationship to deliver business success for them and diversified revenue growth for Publicis Media
    • To ensure we have a fully integrated strategic and leadership approach with our clients
    • To work with the VP Publicis Media to align the market organizations and structures to suit our local business needs and to create an operating model for our clients
    • To create a high performing culture and operating approach within the key leadership team and the agencies as a whole
    • To create a people focused culture with clear succession planning, motivation & inspiration at the heart of it
    • Ensure that the business is run to the highest commercial standards, translating The Agencies positioning into higher margins and effective bottom line growth
    • To lead the ambition to be famous for transforming our client’s business
    • To collaborate with the other market VP’s, MD’s & Practice leads to simplify & make our product offering to clients more effective and market leading.
