    Market Access Lead

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • Develops and implements the Strategic and Key Accounts  Market Access Strategy and plan of action  including payer segmentation, payer journey mapping and $ flow to identify business opportunities for innovative brands.
    • Leads development of pricing and contracting strategy by key account/payer, based on commercial objectives:
    • Partners with other marketing team members on all issues and opportunities that impact strategic and key accounts.
    • Understands and monitors payer policies and trends that impact the portfolio of existing products and investigational candidates.
    • Understands reimbursement market context across all Strategic and Key Accounts both Public and Private payer segments.
    • Provides market analysis and insights for the brand planning process that bridges coverage /access goals with payer needs (unmet medical need, suitable comparators and competitive space).
    • Supports development of the value proposition and key value messages via partnering closely with Value and Access Global functions.
    • Provides needed support to value dossier development and submission to key payer authorities ( private insurance and public/ government ) to ensure appropriate and timely inclusion of Gilead products into reimbursement guidelines in a way that maximizes value for Gilead whilst meeting patients needs.
    • Identifies and conducts payer analytics to highlight potential brand performance issues and clarify opportunities to improve performance and access.
    • Provides the “voice of the payer” to commercial team leadership, thus helping to ensure a sounding board for potential unintended consequences of key brand decisions.
    • Shares best practices across Gilead marketing teams to ensure organizational learnings are applied to help drive appropriate reimbursement and coverage for product portfolio.
    • Ensures portfolio synergy when working across franchises and leverages Gilead portfolio strength in support of BPOA development to field-based Sales teams,
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy and other business partners.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

    • Extensive knowledge and experience across  leading and demonstrating brand access, coverage and reimbursement  both Private and public payer segments in South Africa  in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry. 14+ years of work experience with Bachelors degree.
    • Extensive knowledge and experience across pharmaceutical product life-cycle , Infectious Disease/Oncology Experience from other Multinational Companies preferred.
    • Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred.
    • Possess core competencies and proven track record in reimbursement, distribution, and access for specialty products across both pharmacy and medical benefits.
    • Demonstrate broad commercial leadership and proven results in managed markets, product launches and/or P&L management.
    • Well-developed analytical and strategic skills.
    • Proven ability of successfully managing complexity, solving problems, and building strong relationships.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Understanding of regulatory environment including programs designed to educate patients and prescribers on drug safety and appropriate use.
    • Must be able to travel (30%) as dictated by business need.
