    Associate/ Senior Associate

    The Ideal Candidate:

    Reporting to the Director, we are looking for a high-performing, professional and innovative Associate/Senior Associate with experience in General Litigation and Commercial Litigation. The ideal candidate must be a self-starting leader who works independently while being a team player.

    The candidate must hold the highest ethics and professionalism and must conduct themselves in a manner that is in line with the standards as set in the Legal Practice Council’s Code of Conduct for Attorneys.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Completed LLB degree and admission as an Attorney
    • Must have right of appearance in the High Court
    • Minimum 2-5 years’ post admission experience in Litigation
    • Must have extensive experience in Litigation in both Magistrates and High Courts
    • Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy with the attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and providing innovative solutions to often complex litigation matters
    • Must be able to effectively engage with both Junior and Senior Counsel
    • Engage professionally with opposing attorneys and Court personnel
    • Efficiently manage and monitor cases on CourtOnline and Caselines

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • A self-starter who will manage the entire litigation process with minimal supervision
    • Provide clients with strategic advice on their matters
    • Offer viable solutions to complex litigation matters
    • Draft all Pleadings and upload them on CourtOnline and Caselines
    • Conduct Legal Research and draft legal opinions
    • Manage Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings i.e. Mediation and Arbitration proceedings
    • Liaise with Counsel (Junior and Senior Counsel)
    • Supervise juniors in the team (depending on experience) and delegate as appropriate
    • Display efficiency in case management
    • The ability to nurture and manage client relationships, billing processes and general practice management
    • Effectively liaise with our Bookkeeper
    • Proficiency with AJS will be an advantage
    • Must be computer literate

    Associate in the Cooperate Commercial Department

    The Ideal Candidate:

    Reporting to the Director, we are looking for a high-performing, technical and innovative Associate with experience in Mergers & Acquisitions and General Corporate Commercial law. The ideal candidate must be a self-starting leader who works independently while being a team player.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Completed LLB degree and admission as an Attorney
    • Minimum 1 – 3 years’ post admission experience in corporate commercial law
    • LLM in Commercial Law would be an advantage
    • Must have extensive experience in all aspects of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A),Corporate Commercial Law – including but not limited to structuring commercial transactions, drafting and vetting of all M&A transaction related agreements
    • Experience in Mining Law will be an added advantage
    • Strong knowledge of Company Law and Corporate Governance
    • Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy with the attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and providing innovative solutions to complex transactions
    • The ability to nurture and manage client relationships
    • Accurate billing and general practice management. Proficiency with AJS will be an added advantage

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • A self-starter who will manage complex transactions working alongside the Director
    • Advising on M&A and other corporate commercial transactions
    • Undertaking and managing due diligence exercises
    • Negotiating, reviewing and drafting of various commercial agreements
    • Conducting legal research and drafting legal opinions
    • Supervising juniors (depending on experience)

    Junior Business Development Manager

    Position Summary:

    The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in driving the firm’s growth and expanding its client base. This position is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing and maintaining client relationships, and contributing to the firm’s overall marketing and business development strategies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching potential clients, industries, and market trends.
    • Develop and implement strategies to acquire new clients and expand existing client relationships.
    • Attend networking events, conferences, and industry gatherings to promote the firm’s services and establish new connections.
    • Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals within the firm to understand their areas of expertise and identify cross-selling opportunities.
    • Support professionals in the firm to develop and execute department business plans.

    Tender and Proposal Management:

    • Coordinate and compile high-quality tender submissions, requests for proposals (RFPs), request for quotations (RFQs) and other business development documents.
    • Gather and analyze relevant information from internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and compelling proposal responses.
    • Ensure that proposals are tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the client or opportunity.
    • Manage the submission process and follow up on proposal status and feedback.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring open communication and understanding of their needs.
    • Identify opportunities for additional services or cross-selling within the client base.
    • Coordinate and attend client meetings, presentations, and events as required.
    • Gather feedback from clients and address any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Generate effective leads and develop strategies to attract and retain new clients.
    • Overseeing and managing the quality of the data within the CRM database.
    • Producing reports on CRM activities to support and measure Business Development and marketing campaigns and initiatives.

    Marketing and Brand Awareness:

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the firm’s marketing and branding strategies.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to create and distribute promotional materials, newsletters, and other content.
    • Maintain and update the firm’s website and social media presence with relevant and engaging content.
    • Organise and manage strategic firm events.
    • Support the team in the planning and execution of technical and hospitality events.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
    • 2-4 years of experience in business development, marketing, or a related role, preferably in the legal profession.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of legal terminology and industry trends is an advantage.
    • Must possess excellent organisational and time management skills and meet deadlines consistently.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to strategise on marketing campaigns.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings or events.
