    Market Developer (Product Manager)

    • As a Market Developer (Product Manager), you are at the intersection of making a positive social impact and delivering business results. You will report directly to the Market Development Manager who has commercial responsibility for the products and markets you work on. Together, you will develop and execute a strategy to grow our Wallet/Mobile Money product. Key to this is creating a market leading value proposition and then bringing it to market.
    • Being in the Commercial Growth team, you will take responsibility for the overall performance of the Wallet and will work with the rest of the business to make it a success. Your day-to-day will see you interacting will all areas of the business as you remove friction for customers by working with Engineering and Operations, drive awareness and utilisation with Sales and Marketing and ensure all back-office functions are clearly established and working. You will also handle commercial relationships with partners and vendors.
    • Ultimately, you need to get to the heart of what your customers are looking for and then deliver that solution to them through the business.
    • Your work will result in a real positive impact as customers become more connected to the digital payments environment around them.
    • Internal Liaison takes place across all internal departments. External liaison takes place with potential partners, regulators, service providers and customers.

    Duties And Responsibilities (Include But Is Not Limited To)

    • Lead the acquisition of new customers, improve the retention of our existing customers and increasing the usage of our products by:
    • Being the Wallet & VAS champion for your assigned markets to gain share of mind and coordinate business activity in support of the Wallet & VAS strategy
    • Building capability in sales and marketing teams
    • Working with and training the sales team on appropriate concept sells to open 1-to-many sales opportunities
    • Ensuring that marketing and sales correctly understand and communicate the right customer benefits and product features
    • Overseeing and improving our distribution channels
    • Ensure the Wallet & VAS business is running smoothly by working with the Operations, Customer Service, Product, and other functions
    • Manage the projects in line with the specified project plan
    • Provide guidance and direction to project team members during the project
    • Coordinate the project team’s activities and prioritize activities within projects
    • Track the progress of all tasks related to the projects daily
    • Identify any areas that are running behind schedule and address with the relevant stakeholder
    • Identify where additional support or assistance may be required to ensure project timelines are met
    • Ensure the project plans include targets and measures, resource requirements and planned activities
    • Identify opportunities to expand product and services range offered
    • Ensure opportunities are strategically and legally viable
    • Present business case for opportunity for approval

    If Approved

    • Make contacts in order to develop prospects and leads with various potential partners.
    • Negotiate with potential partners in order to obtain mutually beneficial signed contracts.
    • Implement the opportunity independently, or by working with a Project Manager

    Assist The Market Development Manager With

    • Developing the budgets and reporting on market performance
    • Conducting pricing reviews
    • Partner negotiations, commercial discussions and managing the ongoing relationships.
    • Keep abreast of current and future market trends and industry changes
    • Identifying competitors and keep up to date on their business models (e.g. suppliers, platforms, pricing, product offerings, customer retention strategies, etc)
    • Attend weekly KPI meeting with Manager
    • Attend monthly performance meeting with Manager

    Key Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
    • Related Tertiary Qualification (Essential)
    • Experience with working with Excel (Essential)
    • 2 Years of work experience (advantageous)
    • Experience in a Commercial Product Management Role (essential)
    • Experience in a business development role (advantageous)
    • Experience in Financial Services (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of payments and remittances
    • Knowledge the marketing and sales process (B2C & C2C).
    • Knowledge of contracts and commercial agreements
    • Knowledge of operating license requirements
