    Material Flow & Handling Engineer

    Role Summary:

    • To drive Material handling continuous improvement & performance as per Delivery Operating System DPIP

    Position Details:

    • Daily management and Maintaining Ford Production System Processes and systems
    • Maintain Quality Operation system requirements
    • Ensure that Manpower is provided and trained
    • Maintain safety System requirements
    • Ensure production targets are met regarding schedule achievement and quality
    • Maintain Quality Operating System
    • Maintain ISO 9000 / ISO 14000 procedures.
    • Ensure that Standardized Work (Operator Instruction Sheet – Periodic Job Observation), Plant Machine Heavy Vehicle Inspections, Visual Factory Standards, & T-card processes are followed and in place.
    • Ensure that Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Managers, Supervisors & Operators are suitably trained & developed for launch activities.
    • Ensure that right part is at the right place at the right time.
    • Ensure that process disciplines are followed with respect to Auto-call, Sequence and Pick to Light material replenishment.
    • Assist 3PL Supervision to track Build Concerns & Safety performance on key metrics (Key Performance Indicators)
    • Organise & Plan for a team of 3PL subordinates ( NWG's ) to achieve SQDCPME objectives.
    • Ensure that all Material handling practices are adhered to with regards to SQDCPME.
    • Ensure that all Engineering Changes are properly implemented and subsequently updated on relevant systems.
    • Daily meetings with Material Flow Engineering & Material Handling Teams
    • Ensures Skills Matrix and Training Matrix is completed & monitored for all 3PL.
    • Establish and control overtime and admin budgets.

     Performance Measures:

    • Have the ability and capability to independently carry out respective roles and responsibilities enlisting the support there of key stakeholders. 
    • MP&L DOS Scorecard

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • PC Skills
    • CMMS – material resource planning system
    • FMEA – failure mode and effect analysis
    • AutoCAD/Factory CAD
    • Team Centre
    • PCAM – project budget system
    • Communication & report writing
    • Behavioral Skills
    • Candidates must show ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external customers, have good communication skills and take responsibility for a project with minimal supervision          

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • N Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology or Operations Management
    • 3 Years extensive experience in Material Handling & warehousing including 3PL management
    • 3 Yeas Supervisory experience 
    • Preferably Automotive Experience
