    Mathematics Teacher

    ROLE SUMMARY:

    • Reddam House Umhlanga is seeking a dedicated Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy Teacher (Grades 8–12) to join our dynamic College team. The successful candidate will create a positive, engaging learning environment, inspire student achievement, and contribute to the academic and cultural life of the school.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plan, prepare and deliver interesting and exciting Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy lessons.
    • Establish a nurturing teaching environment that promotes engaged learning.
    • Demonstrate professionalism in punctuality, behaviour, work standards and homework expectations.
    • Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
    • Provide academic support on two afternoons per week and assist with two afternoons of extracurricular activities.
    • Produce high-quality learning resources for students.
    • Attend special school events at the discretion of the relevant Head.
    • Set and mark examinations and all other forms of student assessment.
    • Write report comments.
    • Undertake any additional reasonable tasks as directed by the School Head or line manager.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

    Essential:

    • Ability to set clear expectations and stretch goals.
    • Adaptable teaching style incorporating feedback.
    • Strong subject knowledge and depth of understanding in Mathematics.
    • Confident use of IT in teaching.
    • Ability to assess student outcomes and provide meaningful feedback.
    • Genuine care and attention for high standards of student welfare.
    • University qualification and Certified Teaching Status.
    • Excellent organisational skills and a positive attitude towards change.
    • A demonstrable passion for teaching and student development.

    Desirable:

    • Proven track record teaching Mathematics in a College environment.
    • Previous experience with IEB programmes.
    • A minimum of four years’ experience (advantageous).
