Mechanical Draughtsman at Afrinov (Pty) Ltd

• Afrinov is seeking a dedicated and accurate mechanical drafter with an interest in mechanical engineering and has a self-motivated attitude. You will be working with our expert engineering teams to create a variety of technical drawings and digital models and will be able to contribute to the design process as well while reporting to the Project Engineer.

Drafting Activities

• Responsible for carrying out site visits and measurement into engineering designs
• Calculations measuring, plotting, preparing, and performing layout and detail drawings using as a basis existing projects and sketches or other information received from the client.
• Checking and detailing engineering design using Inventor 3D to 2D modeling.
• Updating of existing drawings.
• Support the workshop with detailed drawings and make sure the instruction is received.
• Responsible for filing of drawings within drawing office.
• Assisting in designing mechanical parts of electrical equipment.
• Complete drawings for the manufacture of mechanical and sometimes electrical equipment.
• Sheet metal, fabrication, and machining drawings.
• Completion of pre-order materials needed for manufacturing in form of BOQ.

Supplier Activities

• Provide support to the engineering department based on supplier requirements.
• Laisse with suppliers when needed to clarify engineering designs.

Quality Assurance

Liaison with Engineering, Project Department, and Workshops.
Ensure quality assurance of completed work prior to moving components to the next manufacturing process.

 Administration Activities

• Make sure drawings are stored correctly marked folders in the file system.
• File design calculations in appropriate folders in the file system.

Qualification:

• The minimum qualification is a National Diploma.

Experience:

• 5 to 10 years of work experience as a Draughtsman in the Mechanical Engineering field.
