To ensure that mechanical integrity of the plant and compliance to South African Laws and Regulations. Manage projects and plant improvements, drive safety and training of mechanical team, while ensuring plant availability.
Ensure plant availability as per the requirements.
Drive process improvement to benefit the business.
Ensure plant compliance to OHS Act and take GMR 2.7(a) appointment, possibly GMR 2.1 depending on experience.
Compliance of health, safety, environmental rules and regulations and ensure housekeeping.
Drive training of maintenance team
Technical support to the plant in general and drive compliance engineering codes and standards
Implement capital and operational projects
Integrate relevant Engineering disciplines
Training and mentoring of Technicians, candidates and process teams
Application of good maintenance principles e.g., implementation of SOP’s/SEP’s
Failure and process analyses and reporting
Leading the planning and scheduling of the maintenance and identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Detailed knowledge of rolling of steel and related processes, proportional hydraulics and rotating equipment
Proficient in official business language, good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate efficiently to team members.
Suitable candidate will be required to perform other duties that are related to the function as prescribed by business requirements.
Requirements
Minimum academic qualification: BEng / BSc Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent (NQF7/8 or 8/10)
Qualifications as an added advantage: GCC Factories and Professional registration: Pr. Eng Preferred,
SAIMech
Computer literate (Word, Excel, MS Projects, Power Point)
CMMS System
Minimum work experience (years): 3 Years post ECSA approved candidate engineering programme
Preferred work experience (years): 10 years post qualification experience in Steel or related heavy industry
