Our client in the Financial Services Industry dealing with all aspects of South African and international tax and tax-related law,  is currently looking to hire an M&A Attorney to join their well-balanced team of chartered accountants and compliance experts in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

This is an internal and client-facing role. The ideal candidate will be an individual experienced in mergers and acquisitions, commercial law, including corporate compliance, corporate structures and negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, who wants to branch out into Tax Law.

Requirements: 

• LLB Degree
• LLM considered a bonus
• Admitted Attorney
• 1 – 3 years of experience in Mergers & Acquisitions and/ or Corporate Law
• Skilled in financial modelling, risk-benefit analysis, and Corporate Law
• Highly motivated and driven; self-starter
• Comfortable learning new technologies
• Process-oriented
• Able to work in a high pressure,  fast-paced environment

Key responsibilities:

• Contract drafting and analysing terms of agreements.
• Drafting technical opinions.
• Sound judgment and outstanding analytical and contractual skills.
• Excellent communication skills, initiative and confidence.  
• Ability to provide practical legal advice and risk assessment
• Ability to work to tight and/or conflicting deadlines
• Invoicing clients and tracking billables.
• Miscellaneous assistance to Line Manager/Partner.
