Metro Police Chief at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• A relevant degree or B Tech / Policing Degree.
• And all requirements applicable to be appointed as a Municipal Police member in terms of Regulation 11 of the Regulations for Municipal Police, 1999.
• Successful completion of the prescribed Municipal Police training at an accredited Municipal Police training facility.
• At least eight years' managerial experience in policing or a similar environment, with proven competency as per the National Treasury Competency modules for middle management.
• Technical and working knowledge of the policing function, strategy, and policing development and implementation.
• Good knowledge of local government related legislation, regulations and policies, budgeting skills and corporate governance principles.
• Computer literacy.
• No criminal record.
• Firearm proficiency.700.00.

Job purpose:

• Responsible for the strategic organisation, management and control resources of the Metro Police Department to ensure that all performance indicators/goals set in terms of the Metro's Integrated Development Programmes are efficiently and effectively met.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
