Develop convenience retail strategy in line with Sasol Oil’s strategy to grow fuel volumes. Set a strategic direction to the retail convenience team to deliver financial and operational targets. Lead and grow the retail franchised network to enable market expansion of Sasol Group.
Key Accountabilities
Set convenience retail and partnership strategies and design methodologies to enable the delivery of strategic objectives.
Set promotional strategies and pricing policies, and approve promotional plans and customer communications.
Monitor market trends and analyse internal and external information to identify opportunities and determine best practices that keep Sasol Group ahead of environmental shocks.
Find new opportunities for leases through partnerships and JVs; conduct business case analysis about relationships with developers and suppliers.
Build and maintain network relationship with existing and potential partners to expand Sasol Group’s convenience and retail market.
Network with government agencies and find new avenues to influence policies and discuss work permits and land acquisition related matters.
Explore opportunities for collaboration with new distribution channels.
Build effective relationships with team members, internal interfaces, key suppliers, and wholesalers and act as the primary point of contact for convenience to align current activities with the company’s strategic direction.
Liaise with convenience trading managers to align directions and plans of customer clustering, layout design, research and development, as well as quality assurance.
Engage in pre-sale activities with local officials and other key stakeholders.
Take part in franchisee forums e.g. NFRC, promotions forum, C-store forum.
Assess the performance of the supplier quarterly or semi-annually against the performance target.
Hold supplier workshops and conduct supplier surveys to support supplier relationship action planning.
Oversee the effectiveness in delivery of buying, range, pricing, and supply chain management.
Maximise profitability, performance, and operational targets to meet agreed financial and business objectives.
Drive outstanding business performance on HSSE, customer, financial, and people measures and operating standards.
Guide the convenience team to optimise their operations and monitor their performance using KPIs.
Build a culture of operational excellence through driving continuous improvement mind-set and motivating the team.
Assess the compliance with legislation requirements of food safety, occupational health, and working environment safety.
Update all food safety requirement documents and communicate standards with the supply and distribution network.
