    Mid-Weight Multimedia / Digital Designer

    About the job
    As an Multimedia / Digital Designer

    • You mentor, manage and build up the design team to the best of their ability, working closely with the CD and ECD. You create an environment that gives the team the ability to voice their ideas and opinions freely without fear of judgement.
    • You grow, encourage and constructively channel creativity in whatever form it’s presented.
    • You know that the client isn’t always right, but you also know how to pick your battles. When challenging a brief or debrief, you do it in a respectful and tactful way, that’s always in the interest of promoting the most effective work. 

    We require:

    •         Multimedia / Digital / Visual Design Degree or similar qualification
    •         4  5 years industry experience as a multimedia / digital designer (A must)
    •         Indepth knowledge of design principles, motion graphics terminology and formats
    •         Significant experience producing digital content
    •         Must be able to animate (2D / motion design) and edit video

            Experience with the following software:

    •   Adobe Photoshop
    •    Adobe After Effects
    •    Adobe Illustrator
    •    Adobe InDesign
    •    Adobe Premiere

    You role includes:

    • Review all artwork from the design team, before it is presented to the Creative Director and Executive Creative Director for final approval.
    • Working closely with the Creative Director and creative team, to conceptualise creative, campaigns, content and daytoday client artwork.
    • Oversee the implementation of feedback and changes to work, ensuring it meets the requirements of debriefs from Creative Director and Account Management.
    • Manage deadlines and workflow within the design team. Assign work to team members based on ability and capacity.
    • Mentor the design team in order to build on and expand their creative ideas, concepts and artwork.
    • Help the design team grow in their understanding of the design process and where possible teach them new skills that could help in their development.
    • Foster a culture of clear communication and creative vision within the design team.
    • Continue to grow and expand on your own design skills and knowledge, in order to keep up with design and digital evolution, to keep Retroviral ahead of the curve within the industry. 
    • Understand and manage the expectations of Account Management and other members of the creative team. Know when and how to push back when it is necessary for the wellbeing of the team and the quality and effectiveness of the work.
