Millwright - Akasia at AVI Limited

An exciting opportunity exists for a Millwright at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Rosslyn, Snacks.  The successful incumbent will be responsible for the high-speed packaging machinery and will be reporting directly to the Maintenance Foreman.

Key Performance Areas:

Health and Safety

• Continuously adhere to and engage in safe working practices.

Maintenance

• Set Machinery as per manufacturer’s specifications.
• To work with VFFS packaging machinery, food-processing equipment, conveyers, Multi-head weighers, Bosch Flow and roll wrap machines, CAMA Case packing, Cermex, Cam, Klik-klock, robotic palletisers and general factory equipment.
• Setting of timing, cams and limits on equipment.
• Ensure machine availability for production to reach targets.
• Carry out Maintenance, repair and fault finding tasks.
• Maintain pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment on machinery.
• Perform electrical planned maintenance.
• Perform mechanical planned maintenance.
• Installation and repair of all machinery.

Problem solving & Projects

• Investigation into the root causes of plant failures.
• Implementation of continuous improvement projects in the factory.
• Involvement in project implementation in the factory.
• Execution of modifications and projects.

Customer Service

• Customer service – Ensuring that the production department is satisfied with the level of service received from Engineering.

Downtime / Reporting

• Ensuring that engineering downtime data is adequately fed back to the Engineering Foreman.
• Ensure that downtime targets are met.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:                                                                   

• At least 3 years experience as a Millwright in high-speed packaging machines and plant equipment maintenance and repairs required within an FMCG environment.
• Experience on one of the following: cartoning and case packing machines, Cermex, Bosch, Multi-head weighers or Robotic palletising equipment will be advantageous

Qualifications:

• Matric / Grade 12
• Trade tested as a Millwright at an accredited training facility
• Completed Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or minimum N4 qualification

Additional Requirements:

• Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
• Pneumatic and Electro-Pneumatic systems
• PLC programming and VSD set-up knowledge is advantageous Knowledge of QMS, HACCP and GMP’s is an advantage
