    Mineral Resources Officer Grade 3

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • COM Basic Sampling
    • Certificate in Basic Geology

    The Appointee should:

    • At least 2 years experience as an MRO Grade 4 or suitable equivalent experience within Mining Technical Services and competent user of MRM software.
    • Medically fit to work in an underground hot environment.
    • Clear criminal screening record.
    • Verified and authentic qualifications

    Advantageous Qualifications:

    • Intermediate Geology
    • Valid Diamond Saw Certificate of Competence

    Additional Requirements:

    • Valid driver's license

    Key Responsibilities:

    • The MRO Grade 3 is responsible to observe and measure the stope excavations with regards to the width control as well as geological mapping and capture of measured data in digital systems to prescribed standards and procedures. The impact of poor stope with control on operations influences the pay ability of mining areas. The role also requires the observation, measurement and capturing of waste scalping, vamping and sweeping areas.
    • Physical stope width measurements.
    • Monitor and report on underground conditions.
    • Monitor mining standards and compliance with regards to mining method and conditions.
    • Capture measured results in MRM Common Logon.
    • Coaching of production teams on best cut parameters, drilling discipline and control lines.
    • Measure current sweepings and development ends during monthly measuring cycles.
    • Measure waste mined and scalped areas, throughout the month.
    • Measuring of backlog swept and vamped areas, throughout the month.
    • Capturing and plotting of backlog vamping areas on survey plans.
    • Assist survey department in the passing of sweeping related stop notes of current workplaces.
    • Accurately identify rock types, reef facies-types, lithological succession, and geological structures.
    • Mapping of underground geological features and lithologies.
    • Capturing and plotting of mapped data in MineRPCAD .
    • Print mappings and discuss observations with the Geologist and MRO for feedback to mining.
    • Print standard reporting sheets and communicate with Line Supervision.
    • Resolve or escalate evaluation/geological queries.
    • Maintain permission to enter books (stop notes/ safety).
    • Stope width control and Geo mapping coverage (tracking sheets.
    • Audit trails (waiting place & coaching reports (PTO’s) & cross tramming audits).
    • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
    • Align to international responsible mining principles.
    • SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative.
    • Participate in SHE meetings.
    • Identify personal protective tools and equipment.
    • Effectively conduct gas testing with an F.G.T.D
    • Identify and report hazards and risks.
    • Identify flammable/ noxious gas underground.
    • Ensure that the prescribed safety equipment is always worn.
    • Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed.
    • Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence.
    • Improve our position on global industry cost curve.
