Mowbray, CT | Homeschool Tutor | R6000 at Au Pair Extraordinaire

• Area: Mowbray, CT
• Ages: 7 year old daughter with Autism (PDA)
• Child’s Neurodivergence Snapshot:  Our daughter has a nervous system disability. She has been diagnosed with the PDA profile of Autism. She is verbally able  and can read and write but struggles with direct instructions as they trigger her “threat response”.
• It means she requires a ‘low-demand” environment with a high degree of autonomy. She is unllkely to be able to manage an online curriculum at home for instance unless it was presented in a very flexible way.
• Because she is so sensitive she needs to be around a safe nervous system all the time, She does not yet play independently. She does not usually become dysregulated often these days, but persuading her to do things is difficult. She must experience emotional safety.
• She also has difficulty with sequencing things and distractibility so getting dressed independently is tricky for example.
• Support Style:  She has fortnightly OT which I take her to because the OT works with us both. She likes swimming ( we have a pool), cycling and she has just taken up a gymnastics class..I’m told she is musical but she rarely sits down at her keyboard or drum kit. She has a particular interest in diabetes and enjoys watching diabetes films on your tube.
• Working hours: Mon, Wed and Fri 09:00 - 12:00 - Can be flexible on the days
• School holiday hours: Same hours as above
• Duties: Teaching and facilitation of the curriculum. Engaging in fun stimulating activities.
• Requirements: This person needs to have some experience of the PDA profile of Autism.
• Start date: 01st April 2026 – permanent contract
• Curriculum: Our daughter has been following an Ambleside Curriculum- Informed by Charlotte Mason philosophy. We would be interested in candidates with knowledge of this philosophy and an openness to learning more about it.
• Salary: R6000 per month (gross, before deductions) + SARS rates per km (R4.95) for any driving done directly for the family. Not to get to and from work.

All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:

• Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
• Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
• Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Must have a passion for children
• Must have Matric
• Must have a South African ID document.
