Nature Solutions Program Manager (Non-Technical) - Johannesburg
Managing the overall program organisation and establishment, with particular focus on voluntary development projects
Driving responsible, efficient and effective implementation and spend, based on feasibility designs
Developing and embedding a program governance and reporting framework to monitor implementation, progress and delivery
Managing financials against RTNS budget including contract expenditure
Supporting the onboarding of new RTNS team members and helping to build a positive team culture
Liaising with procurement, finance, tax, risk management & legal teams to ensure internal processes and controls are met
Providing project management support to major RTNS projects
Maintaining the RTNS SharePoint site (internal team and broader Rio Tinto) and knowledge hub, working closely with the RTNS Communications Business Partner
Supporting the development of an interactive platform that shows the location, scale, and impact of our NbS projects, working with technical expertise and applying tools such as GIS and PowerBI
Building and maintaining an implementation partner, broker, and developer customer relationship management platform
Building and embedding program governance and a reporting framework to monitor progress and delivery
What you’ll bring
Excellent communication skills, ability to distil technical information into effective written and visual communication mediums (particularly PowerPoint)
Post-graduate degree in social, agricultural or natural sciences, or advanced degree in business management
Demonstrable experience in the implementation and management of large-scale development projects in Africa or elsewhere.
At least 10 years’ experience in the development sector
Proven record of implementation in Africa or South America
Demonstrable project management delivery and governance skills
Strong Excel and financial skills
Strong project management experience (including tracking and reporting) and understanding of key processes (including finance, procurement, HR)
Resourceful self-starter who can build their own networks
Ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal input / guidance
Preference for someone with experience of working in a team that has been scaled up (i.e. from early concept to high performing team)
Willingness to challenge leadership for better outcomes and different ideas
Experience implementing development projects in rural areas beneficial
Basic understanding and passion for the subject matter, good understanding of the Rio Tinto strategy, purpose and voice
Collaborative approach and will help build a high-performing inclusive work culture
