    nGap Lecturer: Mathematics and Mathematics Education, Dept. of Intermediate Phase Teaching, Faculty of Education - (7159)

    • Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • A Master’s degree relevant to the teaching of Mathematics awarded with a pass mark of 70% or greater.
    • Mathematics as a major subject at undergraduate level
    • A teaching qualification relevant to the field of Mathematics Education
    • The candidate must be registered or prepared to register for a Doctoral degree.

    Recommendation:

    • At least one (1) year experience in teaching Mathematics in Intermediate Phase at school or tertiary level

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    • Participation in all components of the nGap development programme during the first six (6) years of employment
    • Teaching Mathematics in the Intermediate Phase.
    • Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment
    • Curriculum and academic development and administration
    • Administration, supervision, and evaluation of student practical teaching experiences
    • Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms
    • Perform student assessment.
    • Participate in research activities.
    • Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department.
    • Ability to combine manageable teaching load with a doctoral programme expected of an nGap scholar.
    • Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and online learning).
    • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
