You will be working as Safety Officer and will be the part of Electrification business area for Services division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to HSE Specialist and will be responsible for contributing to improving Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance, in the respective organization to ensure an exemplary H&S culture as well as strong focus on the environment, supporting the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice and be able to take corrective and preventative actions with supervisors, site managers and project managers
Your responsibilities
Reporting HSE incidents, feedback on lessons learned and best practices from own unit and across ABB to management and employees
Implementing policies and standards, ensuring area of responsibility is audited according to the audit schedule
Assisting line managers, site managers, site supervisors and project managers in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to Local HSE law and ABB group policy, instructions and standards
Facilitating HSE Risk assessments by line management involving shop floor employees i.e. those directly concerned by the hazards and ensuring all processes are implemented
Driving behavioral change through implementing Improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary H&S culture as well as a strong focus on the environment
Engaging external (customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders, in order to report on, raising awareness and gaining commitment on ABB’s HSE efforts and performance
Obtaining objective feedback and cooperating with all functions in the organization, ensuring appropriate safety equipment, tools and PPE are available and used.
Identifying, planning and initiating training needs and requirements and assisting ABB organization in the group management system ( ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001)
Contributing to and/ plants and executing HSE, sustainability and corporate responsibility(CR) related projects, developing and reporting on project objectives
Your background
National Diploma or BTech In Safety Management
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the construction industry/petrochemical/mining
Good auditing experience- (ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001- added advantage)
SAMTRAC and SACPCMP registration with a good knowledge of Construction Regulations and OHS Act Regulations
Must have excellent Microsoft office suite experience
