Operator Mechanical – REF: JW398EX/2025 at Johannesburg Water

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repairing, maintaining, servicing and fitting of yellow machines and minor plant and related equipment and machinery. Ensuring roadworthiness of plant and equipment under your
• Control El Participating in the planning of preventative and proactive maintenance programme
• Repairing and installing hydraulic equipment. Lifting and moving of heavy plant and equipment
• Operating Yellow Machines, Minor Plant and other related equipment and machinery as part of work of repairing, maintaining, servicing and testing these machines. Complying with roadworthy requirements on mobile plant. Performing basic auto electrical repairs and maintenance. Inspecting machinery and plant daily. Feedback to the Operational Manager: Yellow Machines on job cards regarding daily progress.
• Carrying out responsibilities outlined in the GMR 2.7 appointment such as ensuring safety, compliance, inspection and maintenance of machinery. Supervising subordinates to achieve section’s goals and Objectives. Filling in of logbooks and vehicle check sheets as per Johannesburg Water vehicle policy. Completing on-job risk assessment forms and other HSE (health, safety and environment) documents.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Trade Certificate (NQF 4) Diesel mechanic
• 2 years’ experience on petrol / diesel engines and yellow machines. Knowledge of Basic Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
• License Code C1 /10 and PrDP.Specific Occupational Medical Fitness.
