    Payroll Manager

    Purpose of the Role

    This job encompasses the effective managing, planning, control and sustainability of Data, Payroll Execution & Org Management processes. Manage the effective integration of the Payroll and Data processes end to end for all group payrolls.
    Ensure that all SLA targets and measures are met. Comply with all Governance requirements. Focus on building strong Business relationships by adding value through optimal customer service. Leads continued success with a change agent mentality. In addition, the position will investigate and close any escalated issues stemming from subordinates and escalate any issues that can’t be resolved to the appropriate position.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operational Delivery - Accountable for managing & controlling the timely & accurate processing of all input documentation.
    • Managing the Process and Service Standards for the effective governance within area of responsibility.
    • Work with PDCI Lead to establish strategic goals and priorities for the Service Delivery functions.
    • People Management - Interpret, communicate, coach & monitor relevant policies & procedures to employees.
    • Manage & encourage a coaching leadership style
    • Building the organisation through effective and efficient staffing, development and succession planning.
    • Continuous Improvement – Promote an innovative culture within team, in terms of value creation.
    • Problem Management - Facilitate and participate in the investigations into incidents & non-compliance to processes.
    • Statutory Compliance - Adheres to legislative governance, process & services standards.
    • Financial - Plan, manage & control the appropriate budget formulation & expenditure in accordance with business rule.

    • Provide leadership to, and develop the performance of, your team in line with the Group’s policies and systems (e.g. performance management) in order to achieve business goals. As part of this:
    • Within the direction set by your leader, develop a clear and aligned plan for your team;
    • Foster a constructive and productive working environment;
    • Monitor the work of each team member and provide regular and useful feedback to them on how they are performing and
    • Drive delivery of objectives holding team members to account for their work.
    • Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with your leader, peers and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals
    • Monitor the activities of your team which involve other teams and appropriately intervene to address any cross-team issues

    Financial

    • Contribute to the development of the budget
    • Monitor your costs against budget and either address, or advise your manager of, any variances of note
    • Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these, or raise them with your manager, as appropriate

    Work Processes

    • Fully understand the policies, processes and systems which apply to your team’s work and provide leadership so that your team works within these
    • Identify any issues around these that interfere with the ability of your team to complete work or meet the plan / strategy. For processes within your authority, make the required changes. For others, escalate these issues to seek action and / or look for alternative solutions

    Minimum Experience & Qualifications Required

    • Grade 12 qualification and/or B Comm or Human Resources related qualification will be advantageous
    • 3-5 years’ experience as a Payroll Manager
    • 3-5 years’ experience in remuneration and benefits
    • At least 3 years SAP HR proficiency
    • Customer service delivery (would be advantageous)
    • Stakeholder Management relating to external payroll vendors e.g. SARS etc

    The Following Will Be Advantageous

    • Knowledge of SAP systems (SAP 409, SAP Fusion and SAP CRM)
    • Knowledge of Transactional Content Processing System (TCP)
    • Driver’s License: Code B (Light Vehicle)

    Knowledge specific to the role

    • Legislation pertaining to the payroll environment, ie. PAYE, POPI, BCEA, etc.
    • Comply with BU Policies such as Retirement Fund, Medical Aid, etc.
    • Strong aptitude for Microsoft Office.
    • Proficient written & verbal communication competency.
    • Finance internal controls
    • Human Resource Data Management

    • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to resolve & manage conflict.

    • Investigative proficiency.

    Advantageous to the role

    • SAP System knowledge.
    • Customer interaction service.

    Behavioural Skills Required

    • Valid Driver`s license
    • Frequent travelling required
    • An incumbent must be cleared by the relevant credit checks
