Pharmacist Assistant at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose    

• To promote and ensure good drug supply management at all municipal health facilities in order to
• implement the essential drug programme within eThekwini Unicity to meet the needs of the district

health system and the IDP.

Key Responsibility Areas    

• Promotes and implements the principles of drug supply management.
• Undertakes stock checks in clinics and update minimum and maximum levels.
• Ensures the correct and safe storage of drugs, pharmaceuticals and equipment.
• Liaises with the relevant stake holders within the multidisciplinary team.
• Performs supervisory duties pertaining to drug supplies.
• Takes responsibility for the control and safe keeping of all stocks within the pharmacy.
• Takes responsibility for implementing drug information systems throughout the eThekwini
• Unicity.
• Ensures and maintain a high standard of professional practice.
• To undertake operational research, audits and surveys at the clinics.

Essential Requirements    

• Matric or Grade 12 plus post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant Certificate and registration with the
• Pharmacy Council in terms of Act 53 of 1974.
• 2 Years relevant experience.
• Computer Literacy. 

Preferred Requirements    

• Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, i.e. Diploma or Degree.
• 3 years relevant experience
