    Plant Manager- PW

    JOB PURPOSE

    To Deliver production commitments within the quality specifications and costs standards.  To Maintain safe working environment, drive operational discipline and continuous improvement in production based on the company’s manufacturing excellence guidelines and methodology (Unilever Manufacturing System)

    WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

    • Manage all conversion operations from goods receipt, material storage and internal logistics, through processing and packing to handover.
    • Define the key capacity parameters and identify constraints for short- and long-term production planning. Monitor, discuss and agree to the developed production plan.
    • Achieve annual committed manufacturing excellence savings. 
    • Achieve operational plan targets for Volume, Efficiency, Service Delivery, and cost · Ensure that product quality meets all the specifications. Ensure operator-based quality systems are functional to deliver “team certified” production. Also ensure that the required and necessary quality assurance systems are in place.
    • Ensure that all activities, for which the plant manager is responsible, are carried out in accordance with all Unilever corporate and BUL safety standards and policies. Also ensure that the required and necessary Safety, Health and environmental systems are in place.
    • Prepare and monitor the factory operating plan and budget and control the manufacturing conversion costs and internal logistics (labour, wastage and rework) against budget.
    • Co-ordinate and drive activities of Production and internal logistics teams leading to continuous improvement of performance, output and reliability; aiming for world-class operations (cost-reduction optimized use of assets and resources and lower wastage).
    • Continuously identify and implement plant de-bottlenecking/alterations/replacements to ensure continuous improvement in the production process.
    • Through maintenance manager, ensure machines are in proper condition to achieve optimum reliability and efficiency and maximize assets benefits including production machinery and internal logistics equipment. 
    • Co-ordinate the availability of resources and inputs from other departments and 3rd parties.
    • Design implement and monitor procedures, systems and work-instructions to ensure the safe handling of all chemicals, safety of processes and the health and safety of all people on site. 
    • Develop and implement appropriate safety training programs.
    • Develop and enhance team-working through cross functional projects and team building activities.
    • Identify, encourage and develop leadership of subordinates with regular coaching.
    • Ensure Top-down approach by delegating responsibilities to the lowest required level.
    • Assess personal capabilities of staff and develop/implement training programs to enhance the skills of all employees in production and internal logistics. 
    • Maintain good quality standards and ensuring safe working practices through compliance with the guidelines set up in Company Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, Customer Service and Consumer Safety policies of Unilever.

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

    Experiences & Qualifications

    Essential

    • University degree preferred – Engineering 
    • APICS CPIM or CSCP certified will be an advantage
    • 5-8 years Management experience in FMCG Supply Chain Operations/ Manufacturing Excellence

    Skills

    • SAP ERP Experience
    • WCM/TPM/ Lean manufacturing experience
    • People Leadership/ team building capacity
    • Strong Communication skills
    • ER/IR skills, in a highly unionized environment.
    • Budget & Cost management
    • Managing manufacturing performance
