Practitioner: Labour Relations (Regional Office–Port Elizabeth)
To defend cases at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), facilitate the resolution of disputes between employees and supervisors, co-ordinate grievances and disciplinary investigations, conduct training on labour relations issues in order contribute to a sound labour relations climate.
In addition, the incumbent is expected attend grievance and disciplinary hearings, render and advisory service to both management and employees; including office administration by attending to correspondences, taking minutes of meetings, co-ordinating meetings, workshops, events, keep a proper records management system & administer the flow of information.
Requirements
National Diploma in Labour Relations or Human Resources.
Degree in Human Resources or Advance Diploma in Labour Relations will be an added advantage.
3 to 4 years relevant experience.
Mediation and facilitation skills.
Sound knowledge of all labour legislation, policies, regulations, processes and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Presentation and analytical skills.
Computer skills; including excel spread sheet, word processing programs and e-mail at highly proficient level.

Responsibilities
Provide advisory services on disciplinary and grievances investigations and hearings based on applicable policies, standard operating procedures, best practice and applicable legislation.
Attend, represent, and successfully defend SANParks’ cases at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
Research case law and or outcomes of previous internal cases and advise both line management and employees.
Provide training on polices and standard operating procedures.
Track clients’ enquiries and give feedback.
Setting up and co-ordination of meetings with internal and external stakeholders
Liaise with line management, employees and trade unions.
Register and update all disciplinary, grievances and appeals actions on applicable register.
Ensure documentation and storage of all information.
Monitor compliance to stipulated timeframes to the Disciplinary and Grievance Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure capacity building and compliance to relevant labour legislation and codes of good practices (conduct training on rights and responsibilities of employees, policies and procedures, role of shop stewards and collective agreements).
To track and co-ordinate the details of grievance, disciplinary hearings, and CCMA cases so that they are conducted and concluded within stipulated timeframe.
Assess risks associated with grievances and disciplinary actions and propose remedial action to General Manager: Labour Relations
Monitor line management and employees’ adherence to collective agreements.
Monitor and accurately administer trade union membership in accordance with organisational rights agreements.
Ensure storage of all documentation and information.
Maintain clear communication and update clients on continuous basis.
Maintaining detailed records, filling records in a manual system, completing routine administration, keeping an appropriate diary.
General office administration and procedures such as typing of reports, taking minutes at meetings (both verbatim and summarized), register and distribute mail, drafting responses to correspondences and copying including scanning of documents.
Arranging appointments, maintaining diary, sorting incoming mail, procuring stationary for the department.
Co-ordinate labour relations related logistics in general.
Administer, monitor, track, and compile trade union membership reconciliation report.
Analysing numerical and written information.
Assisting to create a climate of trust, co-operation, stability in order to stimulate a harmonious and productive working environment which contributes to a respected reputation.
