Press Technician at Defy Appliances

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12, diploma or equivalent; technical training in press operation or manufacturing processes is a plus.
• Mechanical experience/ qualification
• Knowledge of Pneumatics and Hydraulics
• Proven experience in operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of press control systems and related equipment.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality materials.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production targets.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Cellphone and data for communication of issues/challenges.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy materials and perform tasks that may require physical exertion.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures

Key Responsibilities

Press Setup and Operation:

• Prepare and set up manufacturing presses according to job specifications, including loading raw materials, configuring settings, and conducting test runs.
• Operate presses to produce components or materials, monitoring the process to ensure consistent quality and adherence to production standards.
• Comply with Promanage data capturing.
• Ability to Drive a forklift driver. (License will be obtained if successful)
• Follow Change over plans.
• Achieve required operational OEE’s.
• Be able to rotate between press’s according to business requirements.
• 3 shift pattern (6-2,2-10,10-6) 

Quality Control:

• Conduct regular inspections of produced materials to verify they meet quality specifications and standards.
• Make necessary adjustments to the press settings to achieve desired quality and performance levels.

 Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

• Identify and resolve issues that may arise during production, such as equipment malfunctions, misfeeds, or defects in the final product.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks on the presses, including cleaning, lubrication, and parts replacement.
• Ensure transfer arms are in good working condition.

 Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with quality and production standards set by the company.
• Ensure working area is always clean.

 Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate records of production runs, including quantities produced, materials used, and any issues encountered.
• Keep track of inventory levels for raw materials and consumables related to the press operation.
• All other documentation, to be captured accurately and as required

 Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other members of the manufacturing team, including supervisors, quality control personnel, and fellow technicians, to ensure smooth operations. 

Process Improvement:

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of press operations.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for optimizing production processes and improving product quality. Efficiency Improvement.
