Pretoria | Cloud Platform Engineer at Vaimo

Key Responsibilities

• To work in a team environment; abiding by Vaimo’s internal work policies and workflows.
• Be proficient and use platform technologies and DevOps processes to deploy platform infrastructure as code for our clients and for internal Vaimo use.
• Adhere to coding standards following industry best practices.
• Maintain and improve platform performance and security.
• Optimise tools and applications for maximum performance.
• Collaborate with developers and teams to improve usability of platform systems.
• Continuously look for improvements to existing platform technologies.
• Write and maintain applicable documentation.
• Create, understand and adhere to functional and regression tests.
• Be proficient with troubleshooting and debugging best practices.
• Help fellow team members and developers with problems and troubleshooting.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies.
• Assist the technical team when dealing with priority-one issues.
• Audit and provide platform recommendations for our projects.

Skills & Requirements

• Experience with Cloud services:
  • Google Cloud, AWS Cloud, Azure Cloud is a definite plus

Experience with Kubernetes:

• Experience with performance testing is an expectation
• Experience with K3S/K8S is a plus
• Experience with Rancher
• Experience with Ingress
• Experience with Docker Containers and Cloud architecture
• Experience running/operating production-level services:
  • Ensuring availability, resilience, backup, performance, security, monitoring/observability
• Terraform (Infrastructure as code) experience
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines
• Experience building developer tooling (or self-service portals) is a plus
• Knowledge of at least 1 programming language other than shell scripts:
  • e.g. Python, PHP, NodeJS
  • Developer background is a plus
• Has heard of 12-factor app approach
