At least 5 years’ experience in a public library environment and at least 3 years’ managerial experience
A high level of literacy and general subject knowledge, as well as knowledge of literature in general
Knowledge of public library innovative and public library promotion
Fully conversant with all aspects of public librarianship
Report writing skills
Computer literacy in MS applications
The successful candidates will be required to work evenings and on Saturdays on a roster basis
Valid LIASA membership
Proficiency in speaking Afrikaans will be advantageous
Key Performance Areas
Providing professional support and direction and managing all the operations and administration within the LIS discipline in a Regional category library
Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of procedures and systems associated with the efficient and effective running of a public library
Managing personnel and their performance, training and development
Developing and maintaining a balanced and relevant public library collection
Liaising with community organisations, educational institutions and businesses and participating in relevant forums
Ensuring the development of internal and external partnerships to implement business improvements and to support the promotion of professional services
