Process Engineer (Lichtenburg) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Engineering or Metallurgical or equivalent
• Intimate practical experience of cement manufacturing (Plant and process) (approximately 5 years) and people leadership skills
• SAP ERP, On Key, Industrial Control Software (SCADA), ISO EMS 14001 2015, QMS 9001 and OHS45001 2018 systems

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Consult and work according to Group Production Checklist. Conduct process fault finding on production and quality deviations through relevant audit procedures
• Conduct process trials during new product development or process capacity and energy efficiency optimisation
• Achieve plant performance of major assets: Mills, and Kilns
• Report on technical findings and trials
• Close and hand-over technical initiatives to production
• Ensure plant maintains design capacity at minimum operating cost
• Extend life of production consumables, such as refractory liners
• Achieve blending factor and consistent quality
• Implement protocols as per departmental Joint Audit Protocol
• Ensure adherence to Afrimat Operating Best Practices
• Ensure compliance with factory statutory licenses and permits
• Minimise operational risk to production personnel through technical initiatives (e.g.: dust)
• Provide input into budget planning process where required
• Monitor and allocate expenses. Motivate team to minimise waste. Assess team expenditure and resolve gaps
• Support identification, implementation and development of cost-effective processes
• Provide input into scoping of engineering project relating to production in terms of equipment specification
• Provide support to internal stakeholders, such as QA, Production and Engineering on request
• Identify areas for self-development
• Contribute to teams to sustainable and high-performance levels through mentoring and coaching
• Create a positive working environment
