We are looking for an energetic, driven and creative communications all-star to lead our company’s Product Marketing function. At MFS Africa, we pride ourselves in having developed a strong and trusted brand in the fintech community in Africa & beyond. The Product Marketing Manager will play an important part in helping to foster that trend and build the organization into the most trusted brand for cross border digital payments for our partners, stakeholders and the industry at large.
They will also be responsible for developing meaningful and resonant activation/ marketing campaigns, events, and materials that tell the MFS Africa story to our stakeholders.
Success in this role is all about creativity, diligence, iteration, and execution. The ideal candidate should be an energetic and thoughtful “do-er” who enjoys creating something out of nothing, and improves what already exists. They should be highly creative and have a bias for action. This is an opportunity best suited for candidates who are opinionated, impatient, and obsessive about getting the details right.
The position will report to the MD, Global Payments and is location agnostic.
The duties and responsibilities of the role will be as follows:
Strategically developing and building the Product Marketing function within the Global Payments Team and, working with the Commercial team, continuously improve the company’s marketing activities and materials to ensure relevance to key stakeholders
Develop analytics and insights to share with clients and other relevant stakeholders, as well as codifying and embedding processes for regularly delivering meaningful analysis and metrics to partners
Drive periodic end-user market research activities, focus groups, and partner activation activities, in collaboration with the Commercial team
Research and advise on the company’s participation in relevant industry events; own and collaboratively manage hosted events
Determine and put in place meaningful measurement processes/tools to assess and report on the performance of marketing campaigns
Monitor market trends, industry narratives and competitor activities to identify opportunities, refine the positioning of the company and identify upcoming challenges
Exemplify and promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
Skills and Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential; the same in French would be an advantage
Seasoned judgment about when to solicit external agency assistance and how to manage such resources
Familiarity with relevant digital marketing tools and software
Ability to present and influence at high level within an organization and to stakeholders outside of the organization
Extraordinary learning agility and ability to thrive under pressure
Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
Creativity, vision, and excitement about working autonomously in a start-up environments
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field, MBA will be considered an asset
5 to 8 years of related experience, ideally in corporate and start-up environments with significant exposure to technology or financial services marketing
A demonstrable track record of execution, and passion for translating visions into reality, delivering on targets, and meeting deadlines
Deep and broad knowledge of the marketing industry, in various positions along the marketing value chain
Experience living and working in multiple African countries
