    Professional Nurse: General – 19 posts (5-month contract)

    Salary:

    • Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
    • Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
    • Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
    • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).
    • Reference: ECHEALTH/PNG/SB/S16/16/10/2025
    • Centre: Sarah Baartman District

    Requirements:

    • Basic R425 qualification (i.e., Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • Proof of current registration with SANC.

    Experience:

    • Grade 1: No experience required.
    • Grade 2: A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
    • Grade 3: A minimum of twenty (20) years’ appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.

    Duties:

    • Execute nursing duties and functions effectively within the prescripts of applicable legislation, departmental policies, and professional standards.
    • Provide and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
    • Monitor patient activities and perform standard nursing procedures in line with institutional policies and protocols.
    • Apply a multidisciplinary approach to promote holistic patient and client care.
    • Maintain clinical competence through the application of scientific nursing principles and evidence-based practice.
    • Ensure accurate and complete patient records are maintained at all times.
    • Promote client satisfaction through quality service delivery, professional conduct, and adherence to Batho Pele principles and the Patients’ Rights Charter.
    • Ensure efficient and effective utilisation of resources within the unit.
    • Render quality nursing care and assume management responsibilities of the unit in the absence of the Operational Manager.
    • Evaluate staff performance according to the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
    • Motivate, coach, and mentor nursing staff to enhance professional growth and improve service quality.
    • Ensure management and control of scheduled drugs in compliance with legal and institutional requirements.
    • Be available for day and night duties as required by operational needs.
    • Perform any other duties as delegated by the supervisor to ensure effective service delivery.
