Professional Nurse Grade 1 to 2 (Specialty: Theatre) at Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):

• Ability to function/make decisions independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Good communication, interpersonal, leadership and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of major incident disaster plan. Computer skills (Ms Office).

Experience:

• Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional nurse in general nursing. Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional nurse in general nursing. At least 10 years of the above periods must be appropriate / recognizable experience in Operating Theatre after obtaining the 1-year post basic qualification in relevant specialty.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma / degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating theatre.
