    Programme Coordinator

    About the job

    • This is a mid-level role and combines learning support and coordination with creative content production, technical support, and general programme administration.
    • This role would suit an inspired and up and coming online communication specialist ideally with nonprofit experience, with a love of technology, communication, and education and learning. You would hold a degree or reputable training in fields such as language and literature, journalism and/or communication science with a focus on new media forms and technology.
    • You would be working in a close team of three. You would be based in Cape Town, South Africa with remote options available. You will be fluent and able to write and produce content in at least one other South African language aside from English and/or Afrikaans.

    Key Responsibilities

    Programme coordination (approx. 35% of time)

    • Contribute to strategising, planning, and managing annual project timelines and outputs.
    • Help run efficient and agile production, publishing and distribution flows in all aspects of our programme.
    • Help organise and maintain core assets and data like learner lists, evaluation outcomes, gradebooks, impact statistics as well as communication collateral for the programme like presentation templates, design templates, content drafts and so on.
    • Assist in writing and producing, public-facing communication for our programme, like press releases, newsletters, social media posts and at times, supporting the senior members of the team with internal DGMT reports and publication requirements.
    • Support and maintain our engagement and nudge strategy for programme participants.
    • Help coordinate our monitoring and evaluation process of sign-up forms, feedback forms and impact evaluations on experiences of programme participants and their organisations.
    • Support and collaborate on our research work around how communication and technology is used in the nonprofit sector in South Africa.
    • Co-produce and help maintain excellent, pithy written and visual content for the programme on our LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook channels.

    Learner support (approx. 35% of time)

    • General learning support: support learners and help them complete all their outputs from the programme: from group presentations, short assignment.
    • Be a point person for technical support for participants with their use of our products.
    • Help learners solve technical issues on their backends (like web, social media, analytics), coordinate with developers if proves to be complex, and ensure resolution.
    • Maintain the technical onboarding process for all participants (aligning their technical communication tools, for example).
    • Campaign support: help the team and the participants maintain the critical campaign project and ensure participants complete their online campaigns.
    • Maintain technical series calendars and ensure material is disseminated and archived.

    Learning product coordination (approx. 30 % of time)

    • Along with the team, maintain Moodle and ensure the product is error-free and provides excellent user experience.
    • Co-create (write and create visuals) and maintain (edit, fact check, update) Moodle module content.
    • Help coordinate the management of Moodle technical tools like user login flows, completion stats, assignment functionality, and so on.
    • Manage technical assets from technical workshops and maintain files on Moodle, SlideShare and Google Drive.

    Requirements:

    You will have the following skills and experience:

    Technical and creative skills and experience

    • Excellent working knowledge of online platforms, from WordPress (or other CMSs) to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, WhatsApp, and newsletters.
    • Demonstrable digital campaign experience, including web, app, and mobile design within a learning environment.
    • Good photo editing, and basic graphic design using apps like Canva and ideally, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, XD, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro).
    • Excellent knowledge of data analytics: building reports, gathering findings and insights, applying to product.
    • Healthy knowledge of user-centred design practices, principles, and techniques.
    • Ability to communicate with developers easily when expressing design ideas and feedback.

    Programme and nonprofit skills and experience:

    • At least 3 years’ experiencing producing and maintaining online content and products
    • At least 2 years’ experience working in non-profit social development, preferably in learning, literacy, and language fields.
    • Excellent writing and narrative skills, fluency in understanding nonprofit sector language, academic language, and the love of turning technical or organisational language into conversational and social language.
    • Working knowledge or interest in nonprofit impact frameworks and monitoring and evaluation.
    • Passion for people, learning, social justice, and communication science as a tool for social change.
    • Knowledge of or interest in narrative theory, social theories of engagement and empathy, social decision making, social psychology.
    • A degree or training in journalism, communication sciences, online media with a focus on new media forms and technology.

    Competencies

    • Excellence/fluency in at least one other South African language aside from English and/or Afrikaans.
    • Excellent people skills, happy working in a team.
