Programme Officer, Genetically Based Vector Control (GBVC)
The Programme Officer (GBVC) will assist with the coordination, development and implementation of the Integrated Vector Management programme at AUDA-NEPAD and lead the science development in genetically-based vector control tools workstream of the programme.
Required Skills and Competencies
Recent publications in scientific journals on emerging vector control tools like Genetically Based Vector Controls.
Experience in forecast analysis of innovations and emerging technologies for health.
Experience in integrated vector management and vector control at the continental level.
Experience in innovation and emerging technologies for vector control, including successful implementation and application in relevant projects or initiatives.
Experience in policy development and oversight including development and coordination of implementation of innovation programmes.
Experience in convening and facilitating high-level national and regional policy consultations and dialogue processes on innovation for vector control.
Project/programme implementation and reporting on results and outcomes.
Good planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting skills.
Ability to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative and with sound judgment.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment and energy.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
Creative thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in one of the AU working languages and fluency in another AU language an added advantage.
Education and Experience
Candidates must have a master’s degree or equivalent in vector management, zoology, health science, veterinary science, or a related field and two (2) years of relevant and progressively responsible work experience in integrated vector management programmes within public sector institutions, international organisations or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in vector management, zoology, health science, veterinary science, or a related field and four (4) years of relevant and progressively responsible work experience in integrated vector management programmes within public sector institutions, international organizations or similar organizations nationally, regionally and/or internationally.
