    Project Developer (Wind)

    Originate, Develop, Deliver a competitive portfolio of renewable energy projects and partnerships in relevant region in accordance with the company’s strategic targets, across renewable wind energy technologies
    Core Responsibilities

    •  Support the preparation of strategic development plans.
    •  Identify, drive value-creating opportunities and competitive propositions.
    •   Develop relationships with authorities, regulators, utilities, corporations, developers, brokers, banks, contractors, etc. to identify project opportunities.
    •  Screen, evaluate opportunities, build business case for internal decision-making approvals.
    •  Drive the negotiations of partnerships, project development or acquisition agreements
    •  Develop and structure projects from early stage into financial closing coordinating internal functions and external ad- visors.
    •  Plan and manage securing project permits, licences and agreements such as land, interconnection, ESIA, off-take.
    •   Ensure compliance with integrity standards and operating system procedures
    •   Manage legal and technical teams throughout the due diligence phases.

     This role’s critical interfaces are represented by the functions to whom the project is handed over once it has been developed and closed financially. The role shall ensure seamless coordination and manage cross-functional teams with the following functions in different locations in the company before the project is ready to be handed over

    •   SOLUTIONS: Engineering, Procurement and Construction, the PM being the key stakeholder
    •   POWER PRODUCTION: Operations and Maintenance, Asset Management, the Asset owner being the key stakeholder
    • The role will also draw on internal support functions: Legal, Finance, Tax, Sustainability

    Core Technical Competencies:
    Business Origination:

    •     Understand markets, policies and regulation
    •     Create/Manage Strategic Partnerships
    •     Identify, secure projects that create value for the company
    •     Negotiate MoU's, LoI's, framework agreements in new mar- kets
    •     Analyse risks and identify mitigations
    •     Building commercial relationships
    •     Understand Wheeling, On/Off grid schemes, load and billing profiles
    •     Understand rating and compliance risks
    •     Storytelling

    Project Acquisition:

    •  Understand M&A principles, valuation
    •  Negotiate LoI's, TS', SPA's
    •  Lead the process into structuring phas
    • Run initial legal/technical/tax/finance DD

    Project Structuring:

    •  Project Management, multi-discipline/cultural
    •  Lead internal and external EPC/O&M/MSA teams, Financing, Tax, Legal structuring, towards Financial Closing
    •  Coordinate completion of relevant permits, licenses and au- thorizations
    •  PD budgeting. cost control and treasury coordination

    Tender Management:

    •  Project Management
    •  Lead bidding processes for Proposals (RFPs) from utilities and private off-takers
    •  Understand and integrate input from all functions, lenders and consultants
    •  Identify winning strategy


    Project Development:

    •  Identify, secure Land, Grid Connection
    •  Coordinate completion of relevant permits, licenses and au- thorizations (PLAs);
    •  Coordinate ESIA and technical feasibility studies (yield, design etc.)
    •  PD budgeting. cost control and treasury coordination;


    Power Markets:

    •  Understanding the Drivers for Market settlement and pricing mechanisms, Available Derivatives and hedging
    •  Understand the impact of renewables in the grid
    •  Wheeling and balancing mechanisms

    General E&S Competencies:

    •  General understanding of EPC standards and processes
    •  General understanding of PV, Wind, Storage, Hydro technical aspects

    Qualifications:

    •   Education: Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Law
    •  Experience: min 5-7 y in Project/Business development roles in renewable energy
    •  Language: fluent both written and spoken in English. French, Portuguese, Spanish, Afrikaans are a plus
