    Project Engineer

    About the job
    The successful candidate will be offered a fixed term contract (12 months) to fill this vacant project engineering position and the successful candidate will be required to start work from January 2022. Your key responsibilities will be:

    •  Reporting on water consumption for each of the key mining facilities of our client.
    •  Analysis and management of daily water consumption at key operational activities in order to identify optimisation opportunities.
    •  Carrying out of site visits/audits on regular intervals.
    •  The monitoring of existing instrumentation and communication infrastructure to ensure system functionality is optimal.
    •  Identification of feasible interventions to reduce wastage and optimise consumption. This includes the presentation and motivation of the identified interventions to the applicable client stakeholders for approval.
    •  Identification, investigation, scoping and development of business cases for new capital projects. You will be expected to documented these in the form of project proposals for presentation to our Client Representative for approval.
    •  Project management services for the execution of approved projects and monitoring of the performance thereof post implementation. Project management will include the management of site activities and overseeing subcontractors where necessary.
    •  You will be supported in your tasks by a dedicated artisan which will be reporting to you directly and you will be responsible for his day-to-day management.

    The successful candidate will have to demonstrate competence in the following engineering activities:

    •  Planning and design
    •  Development or identification of equipment specifications
    •  Compilation of cost estimations, proposals, tendering documentation and vendor selection
    •  Site inspections and supervision
    •  Contractor management
    •  Commissioning of equipment
    •  Project management

    It will be expected from the successful candidate to:

    •  Promote the BBEnergy values and demonstrate high standards of ethical behaviour
    •  Actively participate in client engagement
    •  Communicate with clients, manage expectations and build strong client relationships and rapport
    •  Have a high level of computer literacy

    Minimum requirements are:

    •  BSc/BEng Mechanical Engineering degree or higher (non-negotiable)
    •  Primary written and spoken language will be English
    •  Valid driver’s license and valid passport
    •  Ability to work in underground mines
    •  Willingness to travel to sites in South Africa and abroad

    The position requires you to be primarily based at our Client’s site near Carletonville in North-West province, with a minimum of 60% of your time being spend on site. BBEnergy’s offices are based in Pretoria and you will have access to company vehicles for travelling between our office and this site.

    You will be reporting to BBEnergy’s appointed Project Manager as well as the Client’s Engineering Representative.

    Additional preferred requirements are:

    •  2-3 years’ experience in a mining/industrial engineering environment in a project management capacity will be beneficial.
    •  Mining specific experience and knowledge of mine safety systems
    •  Experience with mining construction sites’ requirements and regulations
    •  Experience in industrial water systems
    •  People and business management expertise
    •  Refrigeration and/or pumping system experience
