    Project Manager

    SIOC Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) was established in 2006 by Sishen Iron Ore Company SIOC (PTY) LTD to invest in the development of the communities in which the mine operates.  Together with Anova, they are implementing a Mental Health Programme (Psychosocial Support) to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention, treatment, promotion of mental health and wellbeing.

    We are looking for a Project Manager to establish, lead and manage various aspects of mental health promotion and prevention programmes, inclusive human resources, financial and operational matters.
    Key duties and responsibilities:

    Lead and Manage Team                    

    • Manage the implementation of the mental health programme.
    • Guide and Lead the team towards the desired programme objectives.
    • Develop and Implement structures or systems that can yield desired outcomes for the programme.
    • Manage day to day operations of the project, such Human Resources, Financial and administrative responsibilities of the programme.

    Capacitate and Manage Stakeholder Relationships

    • Liaise and engage with the relevant stakeholders in Anova, Provincial, District and Sub-districts.
    • Conduct advocacy work around the project objectives with the community groups to improve demand creation.
    • Attend and represent Anova in relevant stakeholders meetings to promote the project and foster relations.
    • Work closely with other Anova projects, partners to refer and link appropriate clients to relevant care.
    • Provide induction and trainings to all relevant stakeholders to promote the programme.

    Monitoring & Evaluation                  

    • Monitor project plan vs implementation.
    • Assess, review, and improve action plans for relevance as and when required.
    • Conduct on-site visits and engage in stakeholder support meetings.
    • Conduct performance contracting and review for staff & other stakeholders.
    • Contribute to dissemination of project learnings within Anova, to key stakeholders and externally.
    • Monitor expense vs budget.
    • Ensure quality standards are being met and serviced rendered is second to none.                    

    Administrative Support & Reporting

    • Ensure that the programme complies with all the relevant SOP’s and statutory requirements.
    • Provide reports as and when required, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.
    • Ensure all relevant documentation of evidence is available for audit purposes or verification.
    • Present and facilitate workshops to various stakeholders to promote and support the project implementation.


    Any other relevant tasks as agreed with the line manager.
    Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required:

    • Degree in Social Work, Psychosocial, Nursing or any other relevant qualification.
    • Post-graduate degree in Health/Social Sciences or equivalent would be added advantage.
    • 3 years’ experience in project or operations management.
    • 8 years’ experience in Public Health environment.
    • Previous experience working with people who had mental health challenges would be an added advantage.
    • Knowledge of mental health and community health issues
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to speak one of the local languages.
    • Valid driver’s license and willing to travel as and when required.
    • Innovative, organized, analytical and excellent interpretation data skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and has attention to details.
    • Previous experience in leading and managing teams.
    • Facilitation and presentation skills.
    • Excellent report writing skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Computer Literate – MS Office Packages (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint).
    • Willingness to work flexible hours.
    • Fully vaccinated for Covid 19
