    Project Manager - Edenvale

    Reporting to the Managing Director, the Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and results of a number of projects, interfacing between the Air Liquide client and the E&C offices in Champigny and Johannesburg. They are responsible for the control of those activities leading to the successful completion of an engineering project, from feasibility through basic and detailed engineering to construction, commissioning support and the final issue of all documentation. A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels, the Project Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and be the point of contact with the  client and the client’s project team.
    Interface with the Proposals manager to develop the bid document that addresses all aspects of the Client’s Request for Quote; ensure that all third party costs are accounted for and that the requisite number of manhours for all disciplines and activities are accounted for

    • On project award, accept initial project budget from the marketing department. Participate in setting up the start calculation and the work breakdown structure for the purpose of cost control in SAP. Monitor and maintain this budget through the course of the project.
    • Participate in the set up of the agreed baseline programme. Monitor progress against this baseline and conduct pro-active risk management where necessary to ensure that this schedule is maintained.
    • Manage project functions:
    • Project communication management, scheduling & reporting,
    • Vendor bids, cost control, invoicing,
    • Engineering interface management. 
    • Risk tracking of identified risks and registering of new risks.
    • Review and manage manpower utilisation to ensure that hours expended are within budget and correspond to the overall progress achieved.
    • Ensure through regular reviews that the quality of all work is in accordance with the project, statutory and Air Liquide specifications.
    • Co-ordinate the team of multi disciplinary engineers to ensure that the deliverables are produced on time and on budget. Monitor progress and set and maintain/measure deadlines. 
    • Review the critical purchase orders and sub contract documentation.
    • Monitor the procurement effort to ensure timely delivery on or under budget. 
    • Develop and manage all contracts required for execution of the project.
    • Oversee the appointment of and later with the Construction Manager manage the various construction subcontractors.
    • Ensure that Early warnings, Compensation events, Non Conformance Reports, Project management Instructions, Site Work Orders are correctly prepared and issued in accordance with contract (eg NEC) requirements and that these are submitted as per required procedure, to client(s), subcontractor(s) etc.
    • Ensure that safety on the construction site is of paramount importance.
    • Report internally and to the client on a regular basis with those key metrics that provide management and the client with a view of the progress of the project. These metrics must be such that deviations are identified early so that corrective actions can be put in place.
    • Interface management with client and the appointed EPC contractor.

    Are you a MATCH?

    • A degreed engineer, who has progressed from a discipline engineer through to project engineer to the role of project manager.
    • Experience in the engineering and construction of process plants.
