    Project Manager, Projects, Air & Sea - Kempton Park

    Main Purpose of the Role:

    The main role is to manage all the various moves globally (Air, Sea & Road) for a specific Project, from the contract negotiation all the way to close-out.

    This role directly supports company objectives and contributes to identifying, analyzing & developing value-adding and robust solutions.
    Successful collaboration with Operations team & other internal stakeholders is critical.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Intermediate Computer Literacy level in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Grade 12
    • 5 years Sea freight & Airfreight experience
    • Road freight experience will be an advantage.
    • Proper project management experience movement of at least 3 years.
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in FFW industry. 
    • 2 years’ experience on CargoWise 1, or similar Customs program
    • Africa experience and knowledge of the various documents is a huge advantage.
    • Knowledge of Forwarding, logistics and clearing processes

    Job-Related Requirements

    • Logistics & Supply Chain experience:  Minimum seven years or more
    • Operational Management experience:  > 3 years in logistics environment;
    • Facilitation skills: > 2 years effective experience in leading & influencing a diverse group through training and/or problem-solving activities for effective outcomes;

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Analysis and recommendations: Data (analysis, comparison, sense checking),
    • Processes (supporting business objectives, complete, accurate, relevant, error proofed, common exceptions covered, measurable), 3) Facilities (best practices, flow, flexibility, compliance);
    • Implementations : Implement and/or support initiatives & monitor tangible and intangible benefits of changes;
    • Project Management: Plan, document, execute, monitor, control and close projects using established DSV PM principles and tools, and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders;
    • Risk Management: Apply sound risk management principles to all aspects of project activities to ensure all risk factors are avoided, mitigated and/or managed in the best interests of DSV business, clients and staff. Objective of this is also to reduce the time and cost of change / implementations;
    • Procurement: Support supplier selection and management aligned with sound ethical business practice and DSV Policy;
    • Group Facilitation: Leading & influencing a diverse group through planning and/or problem-solving activities as required through project movements,
    • Travel: Reasonable local and international travel requirement to use knowledge, skills and experience in support of relevant DSV business objectives.

    More detailed:

    • Team player with the ability to stand in for the various members of the Project team
    • Manage global shipments to complete a project.
    • Opening accounts as required in the DSV network
    • Work out the profitability of the shipment/project
    • Ensure timely billing and cost recovery on each shipment and the entire project
    • Reporting to internal and external clients
    • Process orientated, opening accounts, calculating ROIC’s, contract negotiation.
    • Familiarise with and manage the DSV Credit Risk Policy
    • Identify possible risks and mitigate these within a project
    • Working closely together with implementation on new sites and with new projects that are onboarding
    • Close out the project with the required reporting

    Tertiary Qualification(s):

    • Honours Degree in Logistics (Advantage)

    • Reporting Systems
