Appointment requirements

• Grade 10
• At least six months’ relevant experience in general maintenance of local authority water networks
• Supervisory experience will be an added advantage
• A valid Code C1 driving licence with valid PrDP
• Computer literacy
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, overtime and standby when required

Primary functions

• Assist in repairing burst pipes
• Assist with preventative maintenance on network systems and related infrastructure
• Dig trenches, remove and replace pipe sections, couplings, valves and meters, and backfill according to maintenance standards
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals, such as steel and brass, and non-metals, such as PVC and AC
• Execute general handyman work
• Perform general basic duties
