PWWS423-2026 Artisan (Plumber) : Metering Management at City of Tshwane

Appointment requirements

• Trade certificate as plumber (red seal)
• At least two years’ relevant experience in plumbing, preferably in a local government environment with knowledge of various water meters
• Supervisory experience will be an added advantage
• A valid Code B driving licence
• Computer literacy
• Physical fitness and good health with the ability to make actual site visits
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, standby and overtime
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

• Install and maintain water meters and pressure reducing valves
• Install data loggers, controllers and other monitoring devices
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)
• Perform generic supervisory duties
• Conduct site water audits and meter inspections
• Repair or replace obsolete or stolen water meters
• Verify and collect water meter-related data
• Detect internal infrastructure water leaks (internal pipelines, fittings, etc)
• Deal with and assist customers to resolve their problems and queries
• Ensure quality control (meter installations and maintenance)
• Register and report any tampering or bypassing of water meters (illegal connections)
