• Business English: Fluent
• Computer literacy (Intermediate)

Duties and Responsibilities    
Manage cost control

• Compile budget for the department, manage cost /expenditures against budget
• Evaluate the necessity and frequency of all test every six months    
• Handle changes in the prescribed manner

Manage the Laboratory facilities

• Ensure that proper and adequate laboratory facilities are available, maintained and kept in order in accordance with the prescribed policy and procedures.           
• Ensure that the laboratory is equipped with sufficient effective equipment and that it is kept in good order or replaced whenever necessary.               
• Ensure that laboratory safety measures are strictly applied.             

Manage testing procedures             

• Ensure the prescribed procedures are available for all test and that personnel are adequately trained in the application thereof
• Check the personnel always carry out all tests according to the laboratory manual.      
• Ensure that the setting-up and calibration of equipment such as the 'milkoscan' cryoscope, pH meter and refractometer is checked daily.
• Ensure that temperatures of water baths, refrigerators, freezers, incubators etc. are checked and recorded daily.      
• Use the monthly summary of control tests as supplied by Laboratory Services to investigate and correct any significant deviations.

Ensure that reporting take place  

• Ensure and check that the results of all analyses are provided in time and in the correct format to the correct people
• Report daily to management concerning the quality of products and raw materials       
• Report daily any deviations on raw material, processing, final product etc      
• Ensure Entropy reports are updated daily

Manage staff

• Ensure optimal utilization of staff       
• Apply consistent discipline  
• Train and develop staff        
• Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all          
• Liaise and communicate with management in all departments          
• Provide leadership and training          
• Set objectives, manage and measure performance of subordinates
