    Quality Resident Engineer - Ford Silverton

    Main purpose

    • Support Lear in ensuring integrity / quality of harnesses delivered to Ford. Support Lear EPMS Port Elizabeth on quality issues raised and any design related queries / issues.

    Key Responsibility Areas Would Include

    • Initiate the preliminary analysis of any quality issue reported at Ford.
    • Review all customer assembly processes to detect any potential quality issue.
    • Communicate to the Lear team to analyze any quality concern.
    • Validate the effectiveness of actions from customer assembly point of view.
    • Report in timely manner the repairs performed at Ford.
    • Release CIR to plants when quality issue found, by Lear or by Ford
    • Collaborate with Lear PVT team on improving design for manufacturing.
    • Coordinate the implementation and report results of any containment activity.
    • Manage the contracted personnel used for containment activities: That they are well trained in the activities they partake in and create a positive image for Lear. Also, ensure that the contracted hours are not exceeded as per Purchase Order raised. Overtime needs to be well justified and pre-approved by Lear EPMS.
    • Create and track open issues list with all plants where unresolved issues exist.
    • Assist customer on quality related issues independently of the nature, manufacturing, Design, sub-supplier…etc.
    • Create trusting environment inside Ford to avoid release of official QR when quality issue is detected.
    • Negotiate with customer reduction of rejected pieces or QR cancellation
    • Be the Lear quality source and single point of contact inside Ford.

    Key Responsibility Areas Would Include

    • Follow the Lear and Ford quality procedures presented in advance.
    • Knowledge of and follow the Company’s and Ford Internal Regulation, the Labor Collective Agreement and the specific working procedures of the related department/company and of the legislation connected to his work.
    • Responsible for respecting the technologies, procedures and work instructions.
    • Inform the quality manager and other departments about any specific quality problems.

    Educational Requirements

    • Technical University Degree

    Related Experience

    • At least 5 years in quality department in automotive manufacturing facility. Previous working experience in Lear or exposure to wiring plant advantageous. Previous experience working with customer quality resolution or warranty advantageous.
