Re-Advert Researcher/Associate Researcher Plant Breeding (Three (3) Years Fixed Term Contract) (Based at Loskop research station, Groblersdal) (Loskop) at Agricultural Research Council

Description

• Project management and coordination of research on a national level.
• Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
• Identifies the need for resources (human capital, equipment and materials) in project(s) and manages them accordingly.
• Human Capacity Development that includes outputs of mentoring and developing others (internal staff) and developing self.
• Conducts research in Plant Breeding, with a focus on legume crops.
• Acquire, utilise, and maintain germplasms, and develop elite breeding lines.

Requirements

• PhD in Plant Breeding, or related disciplines.
• At least three years’ research experience related to plant breeding, post master’s level.
• Experience in classical plant breeding techniques.
• Experience in molecular plant breeding techniques will be an added advantage.
• Authored or co-authored a minimum of two peer reviewed publications relevant to the position.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills, with an ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• A valid driver’s license.
