Reconciliations Intern at Mukuru

• We're looking for a Reconciliations Intern to join our Cape Town team and learn from experienced finance professionals while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. You'll work with real business data, support partner reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and contribute to processes that help millions of customers access financial services across Africa.

What You'll Be Doing

• As a Reconciliations Intern, you'll gain practical exposure to financial reconciliation processes and develop valuable skills in financial analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

You will:

• Perform daily reconciliations to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and accounted for.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies within agreed timelines.
• Support month-end reconciliation processes and reporting activities.
• Assist with tracking outstanding reconciliation items and obtaining partner sign-offs.
• Monitor partner balances and support funding reconciliation activities.
• Respond to reconciliation-related queries from internal teams and external partners.
• Prepare documentation required for audits and compliance reviews.
• Work closely with colleagues across the business to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Learn how financial controls support a successful and growing fintech organisation.

What We're Looking For
Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Accounting or equivalent.
• Degree or Diploma in Financial Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience

• No prior work experience is required.
• Internship experience, vacation work, or finance-related academic projects will be advantageous.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations.
