Key Purpose
- The Regulatory Specialist is responsible for leading CCBSA’s regulatory advocacy and compliance efforts by anticipating and influencing policy and legislative developments, providing strategic regulatory guidance, managing submissions and regulatory risks, and ensuring compliance while safeguarding and supporting business objectives.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
Advocacy, Regulatory Strategy Execution & Advisory
- To lead the development and execution of CCBSA's regulatory advocacy agenda by identifying, assessing, and influencing policy and regulatory developments that impact the business.
- Identify emerging legislative, regulatory, political and socio-economic developments impacting the beverage sector.
- Lead the formulation of evidence-based company positions on strategic regulatory issues.
- Translate regulatory developments into clear commercial, operational and reputational implications.
- Drive execution of regulatory risk mitigation plans across the value chain.
Regulatory Submissions & Licensing
- Develop and execute proactive advocacy campaigns on priority public policy issues.
- Influence policy outcomes through direct engagement with policymakers, regulators and government departments.
- Coordinate submissions on legislation, regulations and policy proposals.
Internal Business Partnership & Compliance Support
- Provide strategic regulatory advice across CCBSA’s value chain.
- Facilitate internal alignment on advocacy positions.
- Support regulatory compliance initiatives and implementation projects.
Policy & Regulatory Analysis
- Analyze new and emerging legislation and standards, assessing their implications for the business.
- Summarize and report regulatory changes to the Country Lead and affected business units.
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain up-to-date records of all regulatory submissions, permits, licenses, and compliance reports.
- Ensure documentation meets internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Functional Capabilities:
Advocacy and Regulatory Strategy Execution
- To lead the development and execution of CCBSA's regulatory advocacy agenda by identifying, assessing, and influencing policy and regulatory developments that impact the business. Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting FMCG operations (food safety, labeling, packaging, environmental, trade, health & safety).
Regulatory Submissions & Approvals
- Proficient in formulating company positions on strategic regulatory issues and managing submissions on legislation, regulations, and policy proposals.
Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Ability to identify emerging regulatory risks impacting the beverage sector and drive execution of risk mitigation plans.
Policy & Legislative Analysis
- Skilled in analyzing intricate external complex regulatory and public policy issues and understanding their impact on operations.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Strong coordination with R&D, Quality, Legal, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure compliance.
Audit & Inspection Readiness
- Capable of supporting regulatory audits and ensuring readiness for inspections.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurate management of regulatory records and reporting to internal and external bodies.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or Public Policy.
- Postgraduate Regulatory Affairs or Compliance is an advantage.
Experience
- 4 + years experience in FMCG and/or Government.
- Hands-on experience managing regulatory submissions, compliance audits, and licensing processes.
- Familiarity with local and regional regulatory bodies governing food safety, environment, packaging, and trade
Skills
- Assessing regulatory risks and opportunities, developing advocacy strategies, and aligning regulatory objectives with business priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting legislation and standards.
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing submissions, reports, and summaries.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and regulatory document management systems.
