Imagine a role where you can utilise your strong tax knowledge in a leading re/insurance company on the market, allowing you to grow further in a role with lot of independence, reporting directly to Chief Financial officer. You will take responsibility for ensuring compliance with tax legislation and effectively managing the company's tax risks.
Main Responsibilities
Leading and maintaining all tax calculations (IFRS, VAT and SAM).
Researching tax laws, particularly those governing insurance companies.
Preparing monthly/ quarterly/ bi-annual and annual tax compliance.
Computation of annual taxes and tax planning for the following year.
Completion of tax audits, if required, by relevant tax authorities.
Assisting in preparing other financial reports.
Assisting in preparing analytical reports for senior management.
Working closely together with business to ensure IFRS requirements are properly addressed, including requirements-gathering activities, like evaluating services and systems, using a variety of internal and external data and conducting partner interviews
Setup and coordinate user acceptance tests and dry runs
About the team:
The Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Africa Finance Team is a 3-person dynamic team managing the financial responsibilities for the organisation. Working alongside global finance teams within the broader Swiss Re Group to ensure the success of the growing South African legal entity.

University degree in the field of finance or accounting
Minimum 5 years of working experience in a tax function or accounting, preferably from insurance background.
Rich experience with accounting systems and income tax provision applications
Knowledge in accounting for income taxes principles under IFRS
Solid understanding of IFRS and local statutory principles (e.g. SAM)
