    Remuneration and Benefits Manager

    REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Matric and Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance or equivalent qualification.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in remuneration, benefits and payroll management, with 1 to 3 years in a senior management capacity.
    • Experience in remuneration strategy, salary benchmarking and job evaluation
    • Experience with managing payroll governance and benefits administration
    • Experience in HRIS and payroll systems optimisation
    • Certified Compensation Professional will serve as an added advantage.
    • Honour’s degree (NQF 8) in Human Resources/Finance or equivalent qualification will serve as an added advantage.

    DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:

    • Knowledge on Job evaluation methodology (Peromnes is preferred)
    • Remuneration benchmarking (internal and external) and reward governance knowledge
    • Executive and specialist renumeration principles
    • Knowledge Employee Benefits structures, HR analytics and reporting
    • Broad conditions of Employment Act, Income Tax Act, Pensions Funds Act
    • Advanced SAGE 300 and excel skills (reporting)
    • Advanced remuneration benchmarking and market analysis skills
    • Advanced decision making, problem-solving and numerical reasoning skills
    • Policy development and interpretation skills
    • Financial and Numerical analysis skills
    • Ability to manage budget, Salary modelling and forecasting
    • Incentive, Short-term incentive design and reward strategy development
    • Ability to work under pressure and to coordinate complex exercises
    • Ability to manage team, people and workflow

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

    Remuneration and Reward Management

    • Develop and implement remuneration strategies, frameworks and guidelines aligned to organisational objectives and market trends.
    • Conduct salary benchmarking and market analysis.
    • Manage annual salary review and incentive processes.
    • Provide remuneration advisory services to management.
    • Support job evaluation and grading processes by providing the value of a role
    • Monitor remuneration trends and recommend improvements.

    Benefits Management

    • Manage employee benefit programmes including retirement funds, medical aid, risk benefits and wellness-related benefits.
    • Liaise and coordinate with benefit providers and brokers.
    • Review and recommend benefit enhancements aligned to market practices.
    • Ensure employee awareness and understanding of benefits.
    • Monitor benefit costs and utilisation trends.
    • Resolve escalated employee benefit queries.

    Payroll Governance and Oversight

    • Oversee payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
    • Monitor payroll controls and approval processes.
    • Ensure payroll compliance with legislation and company policies.
    • Review payroll reports and reconciliations.
    • Manage payroll audits and implement corrective actions.
    • Coordinate payroll-related stakeholder engagements.

    Reward Governance and Compliance

    • Develop and maintain remuneration and benefits policies, procedures and frameworks.
    • Ensure compliance with labour legislation, tax legislation and governance requirements.
    • Monitor governance risks related to remuneration and payroll.
    • Provide governance reports to management and governance structures.
    • Support internal and external audit processes.

    Reporting and Analytics

    • Prepare remuneration, payroll and benefits reports for management and governance structures.
    • Analyse remuneration and payroll trends and provide recommendations.
    • Monitor remuneration expenditure and headcount trends.
    • Support workforce planning and budgeting processes.

    Stakeholder and vendor management

    • Manage relationships with payroll, benefits and remuneration service providers.
    • Monitor vendor performance against service level agreements.
    • Engage with internal stakeholders on REM-related matters.
    • Coordinate communication relating to remuneration and benefits matters.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead and manage the REM and payroll team
    • Allocate work and monitor team performance
    • Develop team capability and technical competence.
    • Conduct performance management and coaching sessions.
